CERULEAN

'Cerulean' aims to depict watery situations that have never actually happened. From sprawling calm seas, crashing waves and damp grottos, these created seascape photographs are designed with real scenarios in mind.

Apart from its reference to the colour blue, 'Cerulean' was the name of a city in Pokémon Blue, a game I played extremely often throughout my childhood. When you stepped onto the tile that marked the boundary of the city, the screen acquired a blue tint - fascinating me, and probably contributing to my fondness of the colour blue.

I have a good relationship with water. In my early teens I was trained as a Sea Cadet, I was part of Seasalter sailing club close to Whitstable, and when I lived in LA, we would take out sailing boats from Marina Del Rey.
